Graduates in Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Sciences

The Graduates in Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Sciences (GEESC) is the official  course union representing graduates students, post-doctoral fellows, and other student researchers interested in Earth, Environmental, and Geographic Sciences.

Founded in 2016 and revived in 2022, our mission is to support academic growth, foster collaboration between graduate students, faculty, and the broader community, and to facilitate funding and events to create a positive and successful experience for Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Science graduate students.

Centre for Scholarly Communication

A partnership with the Office of Research Services, Research Computer and UBC Okanagan Library, the CSC works to create a single access point for the diverse needs of all researchers at every step of the research lifecycle. We provide workshops, one-on-one consultations and support for all levels and types of research that graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and faculty are engaging in.

Centre for Teaching and Learning

The Centre for Teaching and Learning provides support related to teaching, TA training, and the use of technology in educational programming. It is also a place to connect with other TAs and subscribe to the TA blog.

Careers and Work Experience

The Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences, offers opportunities for graduate teaching assistants in the September and January terms. These opportunities help our graduates develop their teaching and mentoring skills while undertaking their studies.

Career Services at UBC Okanagan also assists students in planning their future, providing access to labour market stats, resume building, and interview skills support, as well as information about career fairs and other work opportunities.
